About the event

Andrea Sirois is a Vancouver-based commercial and fine art photographer and

photography educator. With over 15 years of experience, she has taught courses ranging from introductory to advanced photography at Langara College and the Continuing Studies at the University of Victoria. Her work includes editorial assignments for several nature publications. She has been commissioned for, and designed, six public art projects installed on geo-thermal energy stations featuring her ICM images.

In this presentation Andrea Sirois shares her passion project, Moving Landscapes. Using in-camera techniques, these impressionist-like images of the Okanagan Valley illustrate how the camera transforms elements into sweeping brushstrokes of light and tone. These images are more than beautiful intentional camera movements of colourful trees; they are also reminders of the dangers these food orchards face from climate change and the encroachment of more profitable viticulture. Andrea will share some of her methods, challenges and ‘sometimes effective’ results…
